Blake eLearning: Reading Eggs
Since mid-2009, Cockatoo Software’s Keith Pitty has provided services to Blake eLearning’s Ruby on Rails web application team. Keith has made significant contributions to Blake’s Reading Eggs and Reading Eggspress products.
Keith has delivered a wide range of features for Reading Eggs and Reading Eggspress. He has also been instrumental in assisting the team to re-focus on using Agile planning practices to deliver software iteratively.
When asked about Keith’s contribution to the Reading Eggs project, Blake’s Lead Software Developer Martin Stannard said that Keith delivered well tested software with a commitment to quality. Martin added:
“Keith is open to new ideas, easy to work with and involved with the professional community.”
A major aspect of Keith’s early work involved collaborating with Blake and other third-party staff to complete the delivery of sets of Reading Eggs lessons, known as maps. This involved a range of Ruby programming tasks as well as ongoing communication with content providers.
When map 10 was launched in April 2010, Blake’s leading Publisher for Reading Eggs, Katy Pike, was enthusiastic in her feedback.
“Keith, Map 10 is working well. Thanks for all your work in getting it up and live. There’ll be some happy kiddies out there in Reading Eggs land.”
